Self Care O’Clock

Like the famous saying states, “Nobody will take care of you unless you take care of yourself,” this is oh so true. We are our biggest fans but at the same time, we can be our biggest critics. Speaking from personal experience, I used to be so hard on myself because I felt like I wasn’t where I wanted to be in life; but, it took some humbling and faith to realize that I was exactly where God wanted me to be. I wasn’t taking proper care of myself mentally, physically, or emotionally and things soon began to go downhill. It took some realizing and self-evaluation for me to come to the realization that me taking a step in the right direction and working toward goals I set started with ME. So, I began to write down and achieve small goals, put inspirational quotes on the mirrors in my room, surround myself with positive people, and so many other things. Nobody else could do those things that needed to be done. I had two choices: to feel sorry for myself or to change. God began to remind me of how everything I went through was apart of the process and how it was all working together for His good, and this brought me so much comfort knowing he cared so deeply about someone as broken as me. Take care of yourself. Remove those negative things in your life. Chase your dreams. Take that step you’ve been afraid to take, don’t let fear and anxiety talk you out of it. You CAN do whatever you set your mind out to do because you are so loved. Love on yourself. Take yourself out and enjoy your own company. Change starts within and it’s a process. There’s beauty in the making. Don’t let discouragement overtake you because God has already created a path for you. God favors and loves you, don’t waste anymore time. It’s Self Care O’Clock!

Growth and Spiritual Nutrients

Personal growth looks different for everyone and it varies from person to person. It can apply to different areas of your life, but it all originates from within. Growth starts with making a decision to be a better version of yourself, no matter what obstacles may stand in the way. It is so easy to get discouraged when you don’t see things moving and changing as quickly as you think they should, but that is when you must remember that like anything else, growing is a process. We are a lot like plants, we must be watered and nurtured properly or we won’t grow the right way. Plants start as tiny seeds that are placed in soil, once they have the proper amount of water and sunlight, they began to grow. Once they sprout, the world is able to see the progress that has been made because beautiful branches, stems, and petals take their form. It is the same with us. The process begins on the inside and outsiders cannot see what is happening until we make different choices. For example, our attitudes change, we no longer react how we normally would to conflict, and we have a greater sense of peace. With God all things are possible, and without Him, we can do nothing. God gives us the road map, but He expects us to continually work to become better examples of Him and His kingdom. Psalm 92:12-13 says, “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.” Making sure we get our spiritual nutrients from the Lord plays a vital role in not only growing, but it lays the foundation of our lives. There is beauty in the making, never give up on becoming the best version of yourself!

The Art of Balance

Balance

Ever felt overwhelmed from the various whirlwinds of life? At some point, we all have and did not know what to do. For me personally, I gravitate to social media to distract me from the hardships of life but the distraction does not last for long. Over the past year, I have learned how to shy away from the glamour of social media and I turn to God to help me balance the seasonal hardships within my own life. What exactly is balance ? Balance is an even distribution of weight allowing someone/something to remain steady. This can be something as small as meditating and having quiet time alone for ten minutes, going for a walk around the neighborhood, or reading. Temporarily stepping away from whatever is causing you stress by focusing your mind in another space is that breath of fresh air that you need so you won’t break down in the midst of the storm. Balance looks different from person to person, find what works best for you. It’s apart of a bigger process, which is to become the best for of YOU. Nobody else can do it for you, so taking precautions is essential. Society has tried to brainwash us into thinking life is about all work and no play, but that’s the formula for self-destruction. Life is meant to be enjoyed, find the perfect balance between work and play and everything will be okay. ✨
